Coast’s very own wonder woman takes on Hollywood

When Buderim woman Erin Bostock was a little girl, she never imagined she’d see herself on the silver screen.

The now 29-year-old professional dancer was trying to break into the scene at London’s West End when she attended a casting call for a “Hollywood blockbuster film”.

Beating more than 500 women for the part, Erin landed herself a stunt performer role as one of Gal Gadot’s tough-as-nails Amazonian women in the box-office smash hit Wonder Woman.

After six months of full-time choreography, rehearsals and training, Erin said she found herself in Italy, on the set of what would become one of this year’s biggest films.

Never did I imagine doing what I did,” she said.

“Sometimes I pinch myself. It still doesn’t feel like it’s real.”

The movie has already smashed box-office records, taking home $300 million, making it the biggest opening weekend for a film directed by a woman, ever.

Although loved by critics and audiences, Erin admitted she had been worried the movie wouldn’t do well.

“Everyone was worried it wouldn’t do so well … we were so nervous so it really is incredible how well (the film) is doing,” she said.

“I’m so incredibly proud, of myself and everyone involved.

“It makes me want to turn back time and do it all again.”

Erin currently lives in California with her fiance, Justin, who fell in love with the Sunshine Coast after visiting last year.

The couple aim to return to the Coast permanently next year.

The movie oozes girl power and is a must-see for anyone who has a daughter, sister, niece or grand-mother.

“It’s for all ages and I hope girls can watch it, enjoy it, and see what these strong women can achieve when they work together and how they can make changes in the world,” Erin said.

Wonder Woman is in cinemas now.
