Perry clearly knows what his fans like, and he gives it to them -- by the shovelful. But for those not so tuned to his talents, Madea Goes to Jail is two excruciating hours of hard time.

Honest review from a Tyler Perry Fan

First I love the Madea character, funny, funny, funny!! Yes we have seen others in drag but Madea is in a class all by herself. Some have just been introduced to TP but the long term fans who went to see his plays, or enjoyed them on the small screen have a special place in our heart for TP, his plays, and his characters that mainstream just dont get. Someone said, it believe it was Spike Lee, hollywood didnt make TP so they cant break him. With that being said, I love this movie, it was pure entertainment with a good message. Was it his best..probably not, it's not the 'Family that Preys', nor is it 'Why did I get Married', but it was good, funny, and it was entertaining. It made me laugh and that is what I was expecting to do. I will support any and all that TP does. On another note, I think Keisha Knight Pullman was excellent in the movie. She is doing a wonderful job of shedding her Cosby kid image.

okay so Madea is this pistol packing granny from the hood,who often misquotes the Bible,who has been on this earth too long to get pushed around by snobby people.She winds up in jail after fighting over a parking spot at Big Kmart. The Anger Management class with Doctor Phil was a disaster. She ends up helping 2 prostitutes turn their lives around.Its a little sad,but really funny at the same time.She's definitely crazy but her bark is worse than her bite. She has an ornery brother Joe,who is always smoking and he's on oxygen ...

Not the best TP, but enjoyable

I enjoyed this movie. I loved the message, but I felt this was not one of TP's better films. The ending seemed premature. I was waiting for more. I saw it at the theatre, then re-watched the DVD and still had the same feeling. I still enjoyed the movie. Madea is hilarious.

Madea is great

Love Madea... The serious parts were ok but would have loved to see more of Madea. The kmart scene was great but all her scenes were great.

I purchased this for my sister. She lives in North Carolina and she didn't know where to get all of Tyler Perry's plays. She loves Tyler Perry just like I do.

Oh my gosh......I have never laughed so hard in my life ! I think this is one of his funniest projects yet. I was literally screaming and laughing so hard. This movie is absolutely hiliarious and you will want to watch it over & over again. If you ever feel sad and need a good laugh then this movie will definitely do the trick ! Hope you enjoy !

Feel good film!

I'm really not sure why this film is getting such a bad rep. on IMDb,but the general public LOVED this one. What a winner! The two differentplots in the this film were brilliant! This way, the movie had a littlebit of everything. The whole time I was on the edge of my seat. Iwouldn't say the two different stories "meshed" well, but there was agreat moral to be learned. My favorite thing about this movie, and allof Tyler Perry's films, is the wonderful "feel good" mood they leaveyou in. His productions can always brighten the day. Enough said, thismovie was more than satisfactory. Some people are clearly just too hardto please.

Two movies for the price of one, but the comedy smashed against the drama makes the whole thing less entertaining

If the movie is a mess, it's a purposeful mess, cannily, if not artfully, pushing all the right buttons to ensure Perry will be back for another round.
