Good message but not much else
The movie sends a good message but other than that the acting and storyline are pretty simple and boring. Movie seems to be directed towards a younger audience.

This review is from: Pure Country 2: The Gift (DVD) This was a great movie which the whole family could see. Enjoyed every minute of it and can highly recommend it. I believe God really does give gifts and He teaches this in God's word. We have to be ready in our relationship to Him to receive these gifts. This would be a great time for a family gathering to watch this movie.

My 367th Review: Beyond schmaltzy - even Country fans are going to see through this hokum
The original Pure Country is a fun sentimental romantic movie with somegreat honky tonk and ballads - not so this new version. It has a lowbudget Heaven Can Wait meets new country vibe that is pretty darnawful.The plot is the first fault with angels and a gift of voice that isbeyond corny in its representation, the second fault is the corn doesgrow as high as an elephant's eye - we just get all the country clichésand though the original has some heart, this has only saccharine - andalmost comes across as,(take a deep breath), fake. Nearly anyways.All in all, I was kind of looking forward to this; the original isactually pretty moving and with its "A Star is Born" plot moves alongnicely - this sequel is just a mess.I'm loathed to say it, but maybe you should give yourself the real giftthis one time and give this a miss....
A Good Family Film
I really liked this movie. Katrina Elam is an extremely talented singer, and I think the movie has a good message: never tell a lie, always be fair, and never break a promise. I've heard complaints about the acting, but I have seen WAY worse acting on the Disney channel that gets praised, so it's a personal call on the quality of the acting. I also liked the inclusion of special needs children, as they are very near and dear to my heart. I bought the soundtrack and also have ordered the DVD (originally just rented it). I thought it was a great movie, and you won't hear a more talented singer than Katrina Elam anywhere.

A Love Story. The characters up in Heaven are cute!!..No, Not gonna say more about that, you have to see it, especially if you Are "Country" !!! :-) I cannot tell a Lie!!

Teaches important values
A movie the whole family can enjoy. Kids love horses and the music is great, too. Lifts the spirits of everyone.

An aspiring country music singer with a special gift is caught betweenwho she is and who she wants to be. After leaving home a woman whowants to be a singer tries her luck in Nashville. She soon realizesthat the price of fame is not what she thought. I am a big GeorgeStrait fan but was not a huge fan of the original apart from thesoundtrack. This one was over the top cheesy. George Strait is in thisone too, but playing himself. If you liked the original I'm pretty sureyou would like this one too. I give it a C+.Would I watch again? - Probably not, but I may watch first one againjust to see if I remember it right.
Heartwarming movie with great songs!
Just watched this movie today, since it was recently on a movie channelover the weekend. It was family friendly and contained great countrymusic! The plot was a bit predictable, but I teared up at the end andthe movie had a great heartwarming message. I watched it with my 7 yearold daughter and it was great that the movie reinforced the fact thatlying, being unfair and breaking promises are all bad things to do inlife. The lead actress has an Amazing voice and I am not quite sure whyshe isn't a huge country star--she should be! The one thing I agreewith, is that the title is not quite right. It is nothing like PureCountry and calling it a sequel just isn't correct. I think if thismovie was given a new title, than it would have been received more. Allin all, a good family movie with great songs and good acting (in fact,I think the acting was better in this one than the original PureCountry). Enjoy!
Great chick flick
This review is from: Pure Country 2: The Gift (DVD) My 15 yr old daughter and I watched this when if first came out, she kept asking about seeing it again. So I decided to get it for her for xmas. We loved the music. It really went well with the movie and the storyline was very cute.
Don't Waste Your Time!
This movie is not worth the dollar I paid to rent it! I love the first Pure Country, but this movie is not a sequel. It is completely different including the three male angels with baseball hats that appear in the sky several times during the movie. I actually feel sorry that George Strait has his name attached to this movie.
Watch before buying
Pure Country 2?! Someone should be made to lick the floor for even remotely relating this to the original Pure Country. It has nothing to do with the original movie.Let me tell you what this movie really is. It appears a movie company was desperate to make money. So they go grabbed an old film that was a hit and made a "sequel" to it. They got a hot girl, with a cheezy story, and tried to make a quick buck. George Strait did appear in the movie but mostly in small sections. He played a small role in the movie.At least some sequels try to relate to the original story line. This one had NOTHING to do with it! The only good part of the whole movie is that Katrina Elam is smoking hot. If you must have this movie, shop in the .99 racks somewhere. It will show up there soon!
"Pure Country 2"???????
Short and sweet review. This is no sequel. It's a steaming pile ofcrap.If you loved "Pure Country", you'll HATE this stinker.The addition of angels is hokey. The plot line is trite andpredictable. George Strait is only in it for the WORLD'S HOKIEST"fight" scene and a could of distance shots. This is a really horrible. SUCH a disappointment. Dean Cain was one of the writers of this movie.... he should stick toacting. Or.. maybe if he REALLY wants to write, he should try NOTsullying the memory of a fun movie like "pure country".
Pure Country it definately is!
